Trump, virtual Republican candidate for US president after resignation of John Kasich

The governor of Ohio, John Kasich, still announce Wednesday its abandonment of the race to the nomination by the Republican Party to the White House, say US media campaign citing sources.

The output stage of Kasich would leave Donald Trump as the only Republican candidate for nomination to represent the party in the November presidential election.

Kasich had planned a rally Wednesday in Washington, but suddenly his campaign committee decided to cancel the speech and instead held a press conference at 17H00 local (21:00 GMT) in the capital of Ohio, Columbus.

Several television networks reported that in the press conference Kasich announced the end of his campaign.

Trump won on Tuesday a decisive victory in the Republican primary in Indiana to be a step away from the nomination, in a result that led to his nearest rival, the ultraconservative Senator Ted Cruz, to throw in the towel and step aside.

Cruz gesture Kasich had left as the only opponent in the Republican Trump internal, although in a catastrophic situation: Trump already has 1,053 delegates and Kasich has just 156, according to the CNN network count.

Trump get 1,237 delegates needed to secure the nomination, but if it is confirmed that the campaign Kasich leaves the lawsuit is finally settled.
