Colombian drug trafficker "Marquitos" arrives in Bogota extradited by Brazil

The alleged drug trafficker Jesus Colombian Marcos Figueroa GarcĂa, alias "Marquitos", arrived Wednesday to Bogota from Manaus in the Brazilian Amazon, after being extradited by the authorities of that country, where he was captured in 2014.

The alleged drug trafficker arrived at the military base Military Transport Air Command (Catam) of Bogota.

"Marquitos" was brought into the country aboard an airplane of the Colombian police who gathered in Manaus, where members of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Interpol Police (Dijin) of the Prosecutor and the Attorney verified their identity in Manaus and flew him to Bogota.

At the base of Catam, "Marquitos", who was not handcuffed, got off the plane limping with the help of police who then read him his rights and the charges against him.

Once on the ground he was handcuffed and taken to an armored van, escorted by heavily armed police. Despite the escort, the detainee had no security measures like bulletproof vest, as is common in some cases.

The alleged drug trafficker was arrested by the Brazilian Federal Police in the city of Boa Vista, capital of the Amazon state of Roraima, on October 22, 2014.

"Marquitos", leader of a criminal organization operating in the Colombian departments of Cesar and La Guajira, on the northern border with Venezuela, is under investigation for nearly 250 murders, including three politicians, according to the Supreme Court of Brazil reported .
