Temer Brazil gave an example to the world with impeachment


Brazil's president, Michel Temer, stated Tuesday the situation in his country in the high-level debate of the 71st session of the UN General Assembly, which was his first international speech after assuming the presidency.

"Brazil has been a long process led by the Congress and the Supreme Court. A political trial that is fully developed under the respect for the constitutional order, which gave him an example to the world that there can be no democracy without the rule of law, "he said.

In this regard, he added that the process leading to the dismissal of Dilma Rousseff last August 31 was just in the middle of a "cleansing of the political system".

The Brazilian president added that the government's task now is to resume economic growth to ensure that workers "recover the million jobs lost" in the midst of a "fiscal and social responsibility."

In his message, and referring to international issues, Temer emphasized the need for reforms to the Security Council, now dominated by five world powers (US, Russia, China, France and the United Kingdom).

Conflict in Syria

Regarding the conflict in Syria, Temer said "remains a huge source of suffering", in which "women and children are the main victims."

He also mentioned the "danger" that represent the latest nuclear and missile tests North Korea, which recalls the need to end nuclear proliferation.

Among the issues mentioned figure in Colombia's recent agreement to end the armed conflict of the FARC, and I congratulate President Juan Manuel Santos.

Also, the head of state held the reestablishment of relations between the US and Cuba, while urged the need to end the financial block against the island.
