6.1 magnitude earthquake was recorded on the main island of Japan


An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 occurred on the main island of Japan, Honshu, reported the US Geological Survey (USGS, for its acronym in English).

The quake occurred at a depth of 33 kilometers to nearly 400 kilometers of Izu Islands, located just southeast of Honshu.

According to the USGS intensity map, the movement is weak and therefore may have potential damage "but very slight".

The service also indicated that the possibility of death or damage is found low.

They did not immediately issued tsunami alerts possible or damage were reported.
