Pacquiao proposes to implement the death penalty in the Philippines

Senator and Filipino boxing champion Manny Pacquiao filed Wednesday before the Senate of the Philippines three proposed law which aims to reinstate the death penalty in the country.
The initiative Boxer, elected senator in the elections of May 9, provides for the death penalty for heinous crimes, including drug-related, according to local newspaper Manila Bulletin.
The bill comes after the meeting that the pugilist held last Monday with President of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte, another supporter of lifting the moratorium imposed in 2006 the then head of state, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
Duterte "really wants to be re-impose the death penalty, and of course, I also want it," said Pacquiao, as he defended the anti-crime campaign promoted by the president.
"I'm worried because I'm a father. I am concerned that crime and drugs are not resolved. Perhaps, it is my opinion, if we had a different president and anti-drug campaign were not so intense, we would not have known how big the problem is Philippines with drugs, "said the senator.
