The eleven arrested for participating in a symbolic ceremony represented a marriage between persons of the same sex in Senegal, a country with legislation that penalizes homosexuals, were released today, local media reported.

The judge in charge of investigating the case decided to release the accused in finding that there was no evidence on the charges of which they were accused.



"The charges are not enough to put under court order to detainees," said the judge, quoted by Radio Futur Media.

The incident occurred last Friday at a school in the town of Kaolack, located 190 kilometers south of Dakar, where the police interrupted the act of union of two men and seized wedding rings and other objects .
