Pope creates a Pontifical Commission for the healthcare sector of the Church

Pope Francisco has ordered the creation of a special papal commission to "contribute to greater efficiency in managing the activities" of the health sector of the Church, the Holy See said Wednesday.

It is known as the "Pontifical Commission for Health Sector Activities of public legal persons of the Church" and will be led by the Vatican Secretary of State Pietro Parolin.

Among the tasks entrusted to this commission, consisting of a chairman and six members, is "the general study on the sustainability of the health system of public legal persons of the Church".

You must define "a possible long-term operating strategy also in relation to the principles of the Social Doctrine of the Church".

You also need to propose "solving the crisis in terms of the provisions of the general study and activating all available resources" to solve them.

On the other hand, it should provide "the study and the proposed new operating model for public legal entities operating in the healthcare sector which are capable of acting in the original sense and in the current context."

The pontiff's decision comes after a series of financial crises that have affected some health institutions Vatican as "Dermopatico Istituto dell 'Immacolata" of Rome. EFE
