North Korea launches the first congress of the single party
North Korea opened the conference Friday the single party in power, the first major political assembly in almost 40 years, which aims to enshrine Kim Jong-un as the absolute leader in terms of possible new nuclear tests.
Thousands of delegates arrived in Pyongyang from across the country to attend this exceptional meeting of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) held in the imposing Palace on April 25.
Kim Jong-un, 33, was not yet born when the last congress was held in 1980 and devoted himself to his father Kim Jong-il as heir to the dynastic regime founded by his grandfather Kim Il-sung for almost 70 years.
North Korean leader will deliver a much anticipated speech at the opening of the congress, observers analyzed closely for possible changes in political line or adjustments to the power elite.

Although no details have spread about the meeting, nor its duration, its main purpose will be formally cement the status of Kim Jong-un as supreme and unquestioned leader of North Korea.
It is expected that the congress confirm the strategy called "byungjin" initiated by Kim Jong-un, who is to perform at the same time economic development and nuclear and ballistic programs.
Experts speculate about a possible fifth nuclear test Pyongyang, during the congress, to reaffirm to the world its nuclear power status.
According to the South Korean authorities, this political assembly should last four days, the first one devoted to speech Kim Jong-un and a long report on the actions of the party.
