A British youth named James Young has been part of a project launched by Konami and a number of medical experts to develop a prosthesis that is an amazing bionic arm.
The result is a member made of titanium that is very different from the basic prosthesis with a hook, pliers or a hook and actually inspired by the character 'Snake' Metal Gear Solid. The member is also packed with technology, and among other things integrates a USB port that can recharge your phone.
A bionic arm with a promising future
Young lost his left arm and part of his left leg in an accident that was about to end his life, and after recovering Young found as prostheses that had provided him were far from what he thought might provide. It was then that he discovered the Konami project, he said, and ended up being the person chosen to evaluate the behavior of a member who among other things has a spectacular design.
This bionic arm is connected to the nerves in your body and shoulder muscles. This allows for example hand at the end of the arm behaves almost like a normal hand and allow him to pick up objects as small as a coin through commands that send shoulder muscles in the arm integrated sensors. Young has been the protagonist of an impressive documentary published in two parts in the BBC Three.
This development is however heavy -4.7 kg, which makes it can not take all day, and limitations of movement are still important because the way in which the arm is connected to your body imposes. This implant is in principle oriented military environments, but the company's design- Open-responsible Bionics is trying to take the British health this work to use it in other people with limb amputations.
