Pele sued Samsung for using a man like him to announce TVs
The former footballer Edson Arantes do Nascimento 'Pele', the best athlete in the history of Brazil, sued in federal court in Chicago (Illinois, USA) to South Korean corporation Samsung for unauthorized use of his image in a commercial use, his lawyer said Tuesday.

Frederick J. Sperling lawyer hired by the company that manages advertising contracts Pele, confirmed Efe that the lawsuit, filed earlier this month, seeking payment of "just compensation" unspecified.
"We want to protect the image of our client and prevent future unauthorized use" Sperling, who would not confirm whether the amount claimed as damages is 30 million dollars as some media said.
The ad with the unauthorized image of Pele was published in October last year in The New York Times to promote the sale of televisions and, on demand, instant misled consumers into believing that the old man who appeared in photography was the star who won three world cups football.
The document presented in court holds that the announcement undermines the value of the commercial rights of Pele, who at age 75 has signed agreements with global companies such as Volkswagen, Subway, Emirates airline and Procter and Gamble.
Sperling is the same lawyer who last August won an award of $ 8.9 million in a lawsuit for royalties of Michael Jordan basketball exestrella against a supermarket chain.
