Killed 24 refugees, including 10 children, in another shipwreck in Greece



At least 24 people, including two children, have died in the shipwreck of a boat with registered last night in the Aegean Sea near the coast of the Greek island of Samos refugees.

According to the new figures provided to Efe by a spokesman for the Greek coastguard, ten people have survived, but eleven are still missing.

One of the survivors came to swim ashore and alerted rescuers. Nine others were rescued by the coast guard and Frontex boat; five of them were clinging to the boat and four in the waters.

Sea 24 bodies were recovered, ten children, thirteen men and a woman. The survivors were taken to a hospital where they are being treated, said the same source.

It was the second wreck of a boat carrying refugees within 24 hours.

On Wednesday morning, seven people, including two children, died in a shipwreck off the coast of the Greek island of Kos, which like Samos, is one of the gateways to the refugees arriving in the European Union from Turkey.
