The Fresno Bee newspaper reported that Pacific Gas and Electric Co. employees rescued a stout black-and-white cat called Fat Boy after cutting off power to area homes.
Andrew Perez, 14, owner of Fat Boy, said the cat probably climbed the post after being frightened by a dog. He said he called several agencies for help but did not get results.
Local tree trimming services also refused to help in the case, but Silver Villa from Paw Lives Matter said they made sure someone helped the pet and that the cat is in very good health.
Denny Boyles, a spokesman for PG & E, said power cuts were shut off at 1,200 volt lines, leaving 250 homes out of power for some hours.
