Twitter suspends more than 200,000 accounts promoting terrorism


Twitter announced Thursday the suspension of 235,000 accounts promoting terrorism in the last six months and condemned the use made of the social network to make apology for terrorist acts again.

"The world is witnessing a new wave of deadly and abhorrent terrorist attacks. We strongly condemn these acts and remain committed to eliminate the promotion of violence and terrorism in our platform," Twitter said in a statement.

The company also said it has expanded the size of the teams looking to defend accounts terrorism and violence, which has allowed the exposure time is reduced when dealing with these problems.

"In the future we will continue to invest in both technology and other resources to address this problem and update the progress we are making on a regular basis," added the social network.

Since Twitter began a year ago to respond to criticism of the use made of its platform for advocacy of terrorism and violence it has suspended a total of 360,000 accounts, according to The New York Times.
