Wife of "El Chapo" I am not aware that traffics in drugs

The wife of Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman said Sunday unaware that her husband is a drug dealer and accused the Mexican government have become the world's most wanted drug lord.

"To me do not know that traffics in drugs," said Emma Coronel in an exclusive interview with Telemundo, one of the chains of more important Hispanic television in the United States.

She believes, however, that the infamous "El Chapo" is the fault of the Mexican authorities.

"The government was instructed to impress upon capo Joaquin Guzman as the world's most wanted (that) does not mean he has become the world's most wanted drug lord," he said.

"I do not know if they have consciously wanted to do or to cover most important things, because it makes me quite exaggerated the number of things that take them out and say," he said.

"Everything bad that happens in the world is because of 'El Chapo'" ironically he said.

Coronel, 26, defended at all times the presumption of innocence of her husband, who was recaptured on January 8 after spending six months on the run.

The Sinaloa cartel leader had managed to evade security and make clear to the government of Enrique Peña Nieto when escaping from a high security prison in July 2015.

"All those things they say (to him) are pure mere suppositions, because he has not been tried or sentenced, they have not proven their crimes," said the woman.

Mexican justice is finalizing his extradition to the United States, where it has open cases in a dozen cities for drug trafficking, murder and kidnapping.

The woman confirmed that his authorities have not cited declare and never denied that Guzman is one of the world's richest men, for unknown where the alleged money attached to it.

Coronel said he feared for the life of "El Chapo" behind bars, as authorities "are trying to take its flight, he is being punished."

In addition, he complained that the officials have it "subject" in a cold cell, watched 24 hours and guarded by dogs.

"We are ready each passing hour, will not let him sleep, no potty privacy, do not even take a walk in the yard," he said.
