An earthquake of magnitude 6.2 has struck off the coast of New Zealand, 219 kilometers northwest of Auckland Island and 416 kilometers southwest of Invercargill, said the US Geological Survey (USGS).
The quake struck at about half past 7 pm (local time) and had a depth of 10 kilometers.
So far, it is not known if there have been property damage or fatalities.
This Sunday, a 5.8 magnitude earthquake also shook the coast of New Zealand, 17 kilometers northeast of the town of Christchurch, located on the South Island.
In the latter if damages occurred.
