Discover what is more harmful between a pizza and the box where is placed

After half life debating whether the pizza is healthy or unhealthy, it turns out that the worst is not the food itself but the packaging. They have been denouncing for years several studies and consumer organizations in the United States, and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has finished giving the reason.

With this move, the North American country has banned the use of chemical family of perfluorocarbons (PFCs), which act as repellents for boxes not soak with water oil or food. In its report, the FDA notes that the toxicity of similar substances cause "because there is no reasonable certainty that his contact with food will not cause harm."

Besides pizza boxes, these components are also used in some types of microwave popcorn packets, wrappers pastry, takeout boxes, paper plates, utensils and even several containers of pet food.

The danger of these substances is in what is known as "biopersistence", which means that our body can not fully digest. Following the judgment, the ban on these chemicals materialized in mid of this month, although the deadline for submissions ends on February 3.

Already last year the battle was staged against these chemicals when 200 scientists from around the world signed what is known as the Declaration of Madrid, where the removal of these chemicals, according to studies, can affect fetal development calls and newborns, the functioning of hormones, liver and reproductive and immune systems.

Although it had stopped production of these three chemicals in the United States, not being prohibited even had companies that could include them in their imported from China or India boxes.
