The Russian manned spacecraft Soyuz TMA-19M off towards the ISS

The Russian Soyuz TMA-19M spacecraft with three crew members on board, was launched today from Baikonur cosmodrome, Kazakhstan, heading for the International Space Station (ISS).

The Soyuz blasted off at 14.03 Moscow time (11.03 GMT) using a Soyuz-FG carrier rocket, launch went smoothly and could be followed live on television.

Aboard the spacecraft are Russian cosmonaut Yuri Malenchenko, American Tim Kopra and Team Peake, the European Space Agency and British Prime to go into space.

The Soyuz docking with the orbital platform is scheduled for 17.23 GMT today and will take place in automatic mode.



The IEE will be received by their current tenants: Russian Sergey Volkov and Mikhail Kornienko and American Scott Kelly.
