These amazing photos capture the curious annual migration of red crabs of Christmas Island in Australia , an impressive spectacle that happens in October but this year started a little late. Millions of crustaceans have begun their annual trip to the ocean , thus registering crab migration world's largest land.




This migration is worldwide known by tourists and locals who come to see the crabs start to lay eggs near the Pacific Ocean . They travel through forests, rocky terrain and even more roads transitadas.Tristemente red crabs are often crushed by vehicles and sometimes cause accidents due to their hard exoskeletons that are capable of puncturing the tires.



However , in recent years they added a network , tunnels and crossing points in order to protect each of the crabs and reduce casualties .
