The Spanish Civil Guard said Wednesday arrested near Barcelona (northeast) of two men suspected of making propaganda for jihadist Islamic State organization (EI).
The two men, of Moroccan origin, were arrested at dawn in Cornella, a southern suburb of Barcelona. Are "linked to recruitment and indoctrination apparatus of the terrorist organization Daesh (Arabic acronym EI)" according to a statement from the Civil Guard, AFP reported.
The Spanish authorities have intensified since early this year the arrests of suspected recruiters of volunteers to fight in Iraq and Syria with the jihadi ranks or people determined to commit attacks on its territory.
On Tuesday, police announced the dismantling of a small cell of three men with "full readiness to carry out an attack in the city of Madrid".
According to the statement from the Civil Guard, the two suspects "have maintained contact with individuals in conflict zones, offering support and encouragement to continue their activities."
In addition, "they have participated actively and directly in the propaganda apparatus Daesh through private meetings for viewing set of propaganda content of this terrorist organization, praising its members" and disseminating videos on social networks.
