Putin cancels meeting with Russian sports authorities

Vladimir Putin canceled on Wednesday a meeting with heavy rain expected sports officials held in Sochi.

The Russian president was scheduled to address the doping allegations against Russia on Monday published a report by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). The report, which accused Russia of managing an extensive program of state-sponsored doping, has made the track team in the country would risk a possible exclusion from the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro next year.

The plane carrying sports officials was forced to land in the city of Mineralnye Vody where a meeting with President of the Russian Olympic Committee Alexander Zhukov was organized to change.

Putin would be informed later said Peskov and would hold another meeting on sport and doping issues throughout the day, depending on how evolved weather conditions.

The body that governs world athletics planned to decide on Friday whether to suspend Russia, the first step to prevent the country compete in the athletics of the Games in Rio. AP
