With the death today of a young man who was hospitalized and 48 are those killed by the fire in a nightclub in Bucharest on 30 October, a tragedy that sparked a wave of protests that forced the resignation of the government.

The latest fatality died in a hospital in the English city of Birmingham, where he had been transferred last week to the lack of resources and ability to burn units in Romanian hospitals, medical sources reported today.

83 injured are still hospitalized in Bucharest centers, 21 of them in serious or critical condition.

Another 35 victims have been taken to hospitals in Belgium, the Netherlands, the UK and Norway.

A pyrotechnic device caused the Oct. 30 fire in a night club during a concert attended by about 400 people.

The home was not allowed to organize such events and breached numerous basic safety standards.

The three owners of the nightclub were arrested on Tuesday on charges of manslaughter.

The government, led by Prime Minister Victor Ponta Social Democrat, resigned on Wednesday after a massive demonstration in Bucharest demanding his resignation.

Ponta is being tried for various charges of corruption, but had refused to leave office after arguing until now that he is innocent.
