At least 800 people serving sentences for terrorism in Morocco

The set of jails of Morocco seclude 888 prisoners serving sentences for terrorism, and among them only three are women, according to the figures presented in Parliament today in Rabat by the General Delegate of Penitentiary Administration, Mohamed Salah Tamek.EFE

According to these data, imprisoned for terrorism constitute 1% of all inmates in different prisons of the country achieved by the end of August 2015, 76,794, 97% male.



Tamek said the prison population recorded an annual rise of 5.5% overcrowding rate of 44%.

Moreover, a report by the Ministry of Interior, presented yesterday in the framework of a parliamentary committee, it indicates that a total of 15 terrorist cells were dismantled in the first nine months of this year, compared to 14 recorded last year.

According to the report, the members of these cells were accused of planning terrorist acts in the North African country or recruit and send young Moroccans to fight in hot spots.
