NATO says the UK will remain a "solid" ally
The Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, said Friday that the UK will remain a "solid" ally in the organization, although the British vote for leaving the European Union.
"The UK will remain a strong and committed NATO ally, and will continue its leading role in our alliance," Stoltenberg said in a statement.
The Alliance, Stoltenberg said, facing the "instability and uncertainty", "is more important than ever as a platform for cooperation between Europeans and between Europe and North America allies."
"A strong, united and determined NATO remains an essential for stability in a turbulent world and a key to peace and international security taxpayer pillar" added ensuring that the Alliance remains committed to having a "closer cooperation" with the European Union.
The leaders of the 28 NATO member countries, 22 of which are also members of the EU, will meet at a summit in two weeks in Warsaw.
