Sony and a "startup" will develop artificial intelligence
Technological Sony said Wednesday it will invest in Cogitai, newly established US company with which wants to develop an artificial intelligence (AI) showing constant need to learn and then apply it to consumer electronics.
Sony, which according to Japanese economic means have agreed to acquire about 20 percent of Cogitai by an unknown amount, would aim to market these new products able to learn for themselves in about three years.
The alliance seeks to develop AI technology that allows machines to learn constantly and autonomously "by interacting with the real world", which would allow the "objects of everyday life are better trained and more practical and intelligent," according a statement from Sony.
An example of a product with autonomous capacity to learn from its interaction with users and other elements of the environment would be a camera that will eventually be able to suggest practical solutions and yet surprising the photographer uses it to try to meet their aesthetic tastes.
Both companies believe that current IA limitations can be overcome by combining the so-called "reinforcement learning" and the new "deep learning".
