Google Maps will work without internet connection
Google announced Tuesday that the latest update to its map application, Google Maps, allows users to download maps and access them later without being connected to the Internet.
"From now on you can download an area of the world on your phone and the next time you find that there is no connectivity either a rural road or underground parking Google Maps will still work without problem," the company said in its official blog.
The company stressed that the latest update of the application, which is currently only available on the Android operating system, will allow users to get step by step directions, search for specific destinations and find useful information such as the schedule of a particular business without connection.
So far they could download maps but do not get directions or search. The company recalled that about 60% of the world population has no internet connection and when there is poor quality, which means that rapid access to information is still not possible for most people on the planet.
In Spain, as in other parts of the world, the service is not yet available. From Google indicate that the ratio will be expanded progressively action and expand this functionality to Apple devices, though no dates yet.
