Assault and rape lithuania cyclist in Brazil


A 42 year old Lithuanian tourist was assaulted and raped in the state of CearĂ¡ in northern Brazil, while participating in an expedition that crosses South America by bicycle on the occasion of the Olympic year.

The violation occurred on Saturday when the group that accompanied it, made up of about a dozen Lithuanians and Poles, kept going as she lowered the rate on a local road in the municipality of Itarema.

The cyclist was crossing a stretch of Jericoacoara to Fortaleza when he was approached by a man who, in addition to sexually assault her, stole her mobile phone, money and documents.

The victim was found on the road by their own comrades, that because of the delay to catch up, they decided to retrace his steps.

The group was part of the fourth Olympic expedition "BaltiCCycle 2016", released in London February and end on August 5th in Rio de Janeiro, day that begin the 2016 Olympic Games.

The route of 9,223 kilometers, will take cyclists to several countries in South America from Trinidad and Tobago to Venezuela, Suriname, French Guiana and Brazil's 12 states.

The victim decided to follow the planned route by bicycle after discharge from the hospital and meet with the group.
