A Kansas man was arrested for child abuse after doctors found a small octopus in the throat of a 2 year old child, police said.
Wichita police went to a house shortly after 9:30 pm last Tuesday when a 21 year old woman reported that her son was not breathing, she told HLN Lt. James Espinoza, police Wichita.
The woman told police she returned home from work and found her boyfriend of 36 years trying to perform CPR on his 2 years.
Doctors who arrived at the scene moved the child to a hospital in critical condition.
In the medical center, doctors found injuries on the child's face and a small octopus in her throat, Espinoza said.
Police said the octopus was probably used in a plate of sushi, although it is unclear how it ended up in the throat of the child.
The 36-year-old was questioned by police, but their version did not match the wounds on the child, Espinoza said. He was taken into custody at a charge of child abuse.
