China expects to recover and reuse spacecraft
China is studying how to recover and reuse manned spacecraft for future missions, so that the costs of its ambitious space program, which includes the plan to send a rover to Mars by 2020 is alleviated.
"Our next goal is to reuse manned spacecraft. We want our space exploration more efficient in costs," said the head of China's manned space program Zhou Jianping, as published by the official Xinhua news agency engineer.
Zhou made the remarks on the occasion of the first Space Day, which celebrates China Sunday to commemorate the April 24, 1970 launched its first satellite, which also shows Beijing's interest in promoting their space activities.
The expert did not elaborate on how advanced the project, but emphasized that cost reduction is one of the current priorities, with the country's economy to its lowest growth rate of the last twenty years.
