Israeli company helps the FBI to unlock encrypted iPhone


The Israeli company Cellebrite, a provider of mobile forensic software is helping the Federal Bureau of Investigation US (FBI) in its attempt to unlock an iPhone used by one of the attackers San Bernardino, California, on Wednesday newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth.

If Cellebrite is successful, then the FBI no longer need the help of Apple Inc, the Israeli newspaper, citing unnamed industry sources he said.

Cellebrite authorities declined to comment on the issue.

Apple is in a legal battle with the United States Department of Justice by order of a judge who says to do a new software to disable protection of the keys on the iPhone used by the shooter.

Both sides were to meet face to face in court on Tuesday but on Monday a federal judge accepted the government's request, the hearing after federal prosecutors in the United States said that a "third party" had presented postpone one possible method to open an encrypted iPhone.
