Advantages
The main advantage of e-SIM is that customers will be able to to quickly change at any time without a new physical card of the new company.
It will also be compatible with all telecom operators.
The savings in roaming services will be another advantage, as when traveling abroad will receive so online offers local operators in the visited country and can instantly join these rates to browse and call cheaper.
The e-SIM also allow us to have more than two phone numbers associated to our smart device.
And finally, because these devices logically need not have a SIM card slot, hardware manufacturers have more space inside the phone.
Although given the small size of micro-SIM and nano-SIM, the freed space is not likely to be exaggerated.
Disadvantages
The advantages of e-SIM are quite clear, but there are several aspects that raise doubts.
The biggest users has to do with lostrámites that will be needed to transfer our e-SIM from a smartphone to another if the first one breaks.
Currently only we have to remove our SIM of a mobile and place it in another to not remain without service, but it is not clear that e-SIM with this process will be as simple and fast.
Another concern that could have users is laseguridad data usage.
What if someone manages to hack into that cloud hosting our e-SIM? We have already seen cases of some companies that store data and presented certain gaps.
In addition, it remains to be seen how quickly implemented operators this technology, because it could happen to hit the market some smartphones with e-SIM that can not be used with some operators that have not yet implemented this standard (it is likely that not all carry rolling out simultaneously).
The e-SIM will arrive this year to devices such as smart watches and bracelets, and tablets and later will begin to incorporate into mobile phones.
