The interior ministers of the European Union (EU) adopted today by a large majority the distribution of 120,000 refugees, EU sources said Wednesday.
They voted against Slovakia, Romania, Czech Republic and Hungary, while Finland abstained.
"The decision on the relocation of 120,000 people was adopted today by a large majority of member states," said the Luxembourg presidency of the EU in a message on the social network Twitter.
Although there was a majority of members in favor of the deal, the Eastern European countries asked for a vote by qualified majority in the extraordinary council of the ministry held in Brussels.
In practice, the result of the vote means those countries that voted against the quota system were also impose a number of refugees to host.
First, it will move 66,000 people from shelters Greece (50.400) and Italy (15,600).
Then, in a second year the remaining 54,000 seats that belonged to people from centers of Hungary in the original proposal will be relocated.
