The United States has asked other nations to refrain from sending delegations to the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Donald Trump.

The State Department says on a cablegram broadcast to embassies around the world that no special delegations should be sent to Washington for the Jan. 20 ceremony.
A State Department official said the guideline corresponds to a long-standing practice for presidential swearing-in ceremonies.
Foreign ambassadors in Washington are invited to such events.
The official asked not to be identified because he is not authorized to speak publicly about the internal cablegram.
