Women are the ones who better pass the memory test, despite the fact that some middle-aged women confess to forgetting and episodes of 'brain fog' during their transition to menopause, the researchers add.
The study also found that women close to or in full process of menopause outnumbered postmenopausal women in some trials.
The authors analyzed 212 men and women between the ages of 45 and 55 and evaluated both episodic memory and executive function, semantic processing and verbal intelligence.
