Raul Castro Receives President of Austria
Cuban President Raul Castro and his Austrian counterpart, Heinz Fischer, met in Havana on the first day of the official visit of European representative to the island, where they discussed the state of bilateral relations celebrating this year its 70th anniversary.
After the official reception at the Palace of the Revolution, Castro and Fischer also discussed about the "gradual strengthening" of economic, trade and cooperation between Cuba and Austria relations and on issues of the international agenda, according to state media they reported.
Fischer was accompanied at the meeting by the director of the presidential cabinet, Helmut Freudenschuss; holders of the parliamentary groups of the Social Democratic and Popular, Reinhold Lopatka and Andreas Schieder parties; and ambassador to Cuba, Gerlinde Paschinger.
On the Cuban side they participated the vice president of the Council of Ministers, Ricardo Cabrisas, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez and Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Rodrigo Malmierca.
At the start of his visit to Cuba, Fischer opened this morning a business forum in which federal chambers Economics European country and trade on the island signed a memorandum of understanding to promote trade, investment and economic relations between the two parts.
The Austrian president expressed confident in the success of this forum and urged the parties to meet in order to identify joint opportunities.
