BMW joins to announcements made in the last hours by the Volkswagen Group and Daimler. In total, the three German manufacturers call for review in the United States over 2 million vehicles by the problem of defective Takata airbag.

The Volkswagen Group today said it will call for revision of 680,000 vehicles in the US to replace the defective inflators systems installed in the Japanese manufacturer Takata airbag.

VW said in a statement that the recall affected some of the Passat 2006-2010, 2012-2014 Eos, Golf 2010-2014, 2010-2014 SporWagen Jetta, Passat CC 2012-2014 and 2009-2014 models.

VW said it has no information on the breakdown of Takata inflators in any of its vehicles worldwide.

And on Tuesday night, Daimler said other 840,000 vehicles equipped with airbags Takata, mostly from the Mercedes-Benz brand, will be repaired.

These calls for review of VW came two weeks after Takata reveal that expanded by 5.1 million vehicles in North America the recall to fix faulty airbag systems.

Previously, Takata had recognized the installation of defective airbag in 28 million vehicles worldwide of which 24 million were sold in the United States.

Air bags were produced by Takata with an inflator that can be broken at the time of activation of the airbag, which in several cases has led to the expulsion of metal fragments that caused serious injury or death to the occupants of the vehicle impacted.
