One policeman was killed and three were wounded after a gun battle early Saturday in northeast Mississippi, authorities said.

The confrontation ended with a shootout in a house near the town of Iuka, Mississippi, spokesman DPS Warren Strain said.
He added that the assailant was killed. A woman and a minor who were in the house survived the event.
A SWAT team rushed to the scene on Friday evening, organized by the local authorities.
The dead policeman was identified as James Lee Tartt, 44, and the anti-drug police unit. The attacker killed was identified as Charles Lee Lambert, 45, originally from Iuka.
