They create an app that "translates" crying baby

Researchers at the National Taiwan University Hospital, Yunlin, created an application that says to "translate" the cries of a baby, identified through these needs.

"The translator of crying infants four states can be differences of crying baby sounds, including hunger, a wet diaper, sleep and pain," said Chang Chuan-yu, a pediatrician and creative development with Chen Si-da.

The program is designed to be used in children under six months and that after that age, the child is more affected by their environment. But before that time, the creators promise reliable results.

"So far, according to user feedback, the accuracy of the application we tested reached 92 percent in babies under two weeks. For one or two months, the accuracy can reach 84 percent or 85 percent. Even for a baby four months, reaching 77 percent, "said Chuan-yu told Reuters.

For the analysis, the user should record 10 seconds of crying baby. The audio is sent to an online server where the automatic comparison with the database is performed, delivering a result within 15 seconds.

Analyzing the situation, users can send them a report on the application, to improve detection system.
"Baby Cries Translator" can be downloaded on iOS and Android for $ 2.99, but for now is only available in Chinese, Japanese and English.
