State of emergency in Michigan by contaminated water
US President Barack Obama said Saturday the state of emergency in Michigan, releasing federal funds to help an area affected by contaminated water, the White House said.
The authorities of this state in the northern United States are facing a health crisis proportions due to contaminated water emerged after saving measures implemented in the city of Flint, where some 100,000 people live.
Pollution problems arose after state officials ignored health warnings on water and odor complaints from residents who said the water the sick.
On Thursday, Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder sent a request to the president to declare a state of emergency.
As part of a cost reduction program, the city began in April 2014 to consume Flint River water instead of buying Detroit. That's when the trouble began.
