Serial murderer executed for murder in 1986 in Florida

Authorities in Florida (USA) morning run Oscar Ray Bolin, a serial murderer sentenced to death in 1986 for the death of a woman aged 26, after a federal appeals court rejected the suspension of sentence.

The Eleventh Court of Appeals of Florida rejected Monday the defense request Bolin, 53, to postpone his execution for the death in December 1986 of Teri Lynn Matthews, whose body was found in Pasco County on west coast of the state.

Pending a second appeal in this judicial body, Bolin has the option to appeal to the US Supreme Court before his execution, scheduled for tomorrow at 18:00 ET (23:00 GMT) is performed.

The prisoner, not finally suspended execution, die after receiving a lethal injection at Florida State Prison near the town of Starke, north of the state.

Last October, the governor of Florida, Rick Scott, signed the execution order of Bolin's death Matthews, one of three women murdered in 1986. The other two were Stephanie Collins, 17, and Natalie Blanche Holley , 25.

Bolin is the 23rd inmate to be executed in Florida during the tenure of Governor Scott, the highest figure recorded under a term of Government, and the first of 2016.

Florida uses three types of drugs -midazolam hidrochloride, vecuronium bromide and potassium Chloride- in executions by lethal injection administered intravenously, which causes unconsciousness of the prisoner and then cardiac arrest first.

The last inmate to be executed in Florida was Jerry Correll William, 59, who received a lethal injection in October 2015 of murdering four family in Orlando.

Since 1976, Florida has executed 91 inmates. Currently, 400 people, four of them women, are awaiting execution by lethal injection on death row.
