The Empire State is stained blue by the 100th birthday of Frank Sinatra

Coinciding with the centenary of the birth of singer Frank Sinatra, the iconic Empire State of New York today is dyed blue to honor the artist. EFE

Not the first time the building is illuminated color of the eyes of the most popular singer of all times, also known as "Ol 'Blue Eyes", born on December 12, 1915 in the town of Hoboken, in the neighboring state New Jersey.

His repertoire, with iconic songs of popular music, was the work of American composers like Jimmy Van Heusen, Cole Porter and George Gershwin, among others.

"New York, New York", "My Way" and "The Way You Look Tonight" are some of the topics stars.

Although the singer, who died aged 82, was always associated with New York for the lyrics of one of his most famous songs, she lived more than half his life in Los Angeles, where he also starred in a number of films.

The house where he was born "The Voice" on Monroe Street in Hoboken, there is nothing left. A fire destroyed decades of his birth home and sun is just one star-shaped plate where it is recalled that there lived his first 21 years the most famous resident of the town's history.
