The petition was delivered by the Court of District of New York in the United States which accuses Vasquez of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering.

According to the indictment of the United States Department of Justice, the former leader received money from the company Media World in exchange for granting marketing rights and media selection of El Salvador for World Cup qualifying games of 2014.

The company Media World began regarding FESFUT in October 2009 when they signed the first contract of assignment of rights (which expired in 2013), through Vásquez.

The second contract was sealed, in advance, in 2012 and lasts until 2018.

Authorities of the US Attorney's Office revealed on Thursday December 3rd list of 16 people involved in bribery and related CONCACAF and CONMEBOL, including El Salvador.
