"The officer was arrested at his home in possession of 42.7 kilograms of cocaine paste," said Gomer Padilla, Attorney department of Santa Cruz, who confirmed that the uniform was charged with trafficking in controlled substances.

"We noticed that this lieutenant colonel stationed in La Paz, make unauthorized constant trips to Santa Cruz," he told reporters Interior Minister Carlos Romero.

The anti-drug operation found in the home of police chief alkaloid tamped ten packets of brick block type and twelve bags of cocaine. The defendant denied owning the drugs and said his friend left the bags, of its content. He argued that his presence in Santa Cruz was due to family commitments.

Antinarcotics authorities proceeded to confiscate the property, as well as two vehicles, a cell phone and a camera. Two people were arrested and a third managed to escape from the place.

Because there have been several similar cases involving members of the police in cases of drug trafficking, President Evo Morales suggested a law allowing subordinates reporting to superiors who were linked to such cases.
