2.3 tons of cocaine seized in France by boat coming from Colombia

The French authorities reported today that the country's coastguard seized a shipment of 2,306 kilos of cocaine on a ship from Colombia and was diverted in the Atlantic to the French port of Boulogne-sur-Mer (northwest). EFE

"This is the largest seizure of ever conducted in metropolitan France cocaine", the French customs service, which estimates that the drug would have reached a price of EUR 400 million at retail in the black market (about 440 million today reported dollars).



The operation took place on 10 December, when Gauls agents searched the freighter with 12 crew CARIB PALM Turkish and Ukrainian nationality who had diverted a patrol of the coast guard, the prosecution said.
