The Eiffel Tower was closed to the public again Tuesday because of problems in the safety device in place after the attacks in Paris, the company that manages the famous monument said.
"Despite the important safety device implemented (...), it must be adapted to meet the public," the company said.
The decision to re-close the tower follows a request from employees "who opposed the reopening on Tuesday," without first have guaranteed the safety of the esplanade that is under the tower, one of them explained to AFP .
Visited daily by 15,000 to 20,000 people, the Eiffel Tower was closed after the attacks that left at least 129 dead and 352 injured in Paris last Friday.
The tower reopened its doors on Monday and that night was lit with the colors blue, white and red French flag.
However, Monday morning employees demanded the installation of barriers "of 1.90 meters high" around the square to allow visitors to filter said one of them.
A reopen on Monday, one of the four pillars was surrounded with such a barrier, but the measure was not considered sufficient by employees. AFP
