Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday denounced "a stab in the back" of Ankara after Turkish aircraft shot down by a Russian unit in the Syrian border, and warned of "serious consequences".

"The loss today is a stab in the back lays at by the accomplices of terrorists," Putin said at a press conference in the presence of Jordan's King Abdullah II.
"I can not otherwise qualify what happened today (...) Never tolerate crimes are committed today as" the Russian president added.
A Russian fighter jet Su-24 with two pilots on board was killed by the Turkish army. According to Putin, the plane was hit one kilometer from the border of Turkey and then crashed four kilometers from her. Ankara argues instead that the aircraft entered its airspace.
"Of course, we will analyze what happened. And this tragic event will have serious consequences for Russian-Turkish relations, "Putin said.
The Russian president also lamented that Ankara has requested an extraordinary meeting of the NATO-organization of which Turkey is a member- rather than address the problem directly with Moscow.
For its part, Ankara, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu justified the decision to shoot down Russian combat aircraft by the "duty" to defend the borders of Turkey.
Finally, according to rebels and Syrian opposition, one of the two pilots of the Russian aircraft was shot dead by rebels sources when it made landfall after eject the device, and the other is missing.
