The Third Summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), which begins tomorrow in Tehran to find the best price policies for hydrocarbons, will focus on highlighting its bright outlook for in future character of "clean energy" and marked growth.
It is planned that nine heads of state and government come to the meeting as well as oil and energy ministers of the twelve countries of the forum and five observers, making this Summit the largest political entity since it began to be held in 2011.
Representatives from Russia, Iran, Qatar, Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Libya, Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela and the United Arab Emirates full-countries as well as right-Holland, Iraq, Oman, Peru and Norway - observers, arrived in Tehran this weekend to prepare a meeting which was also characterized by the large number of bilateral meetings planned.
It is expected that during the meeting of GECF, in addition to analyzing the market outlook and the potential for cooperation, delegates approved a statement that will emphasize the opportunity to defend that natural gas offers the world as the source of fossil energy more environmentally friendly.
In fact, it is expected that the forum will send a message to the Conference on Climate Change United Nations that will start in Paris next week, in which the role of gas will be highlighted as an option to limit emissions in energy production.
"This summit comes just before the Paris Summit and after the conclusion of the G-20, where the need for sustainable development, a path that can not be followed or secured without gas as fuel was emphasized," said GECF Secretary General Mohammad-Hossein Adeli, one of the days prior to the meeting.
In addition to environmental issues, the forum will also seek and discuss solutions to address the request of several of its members to achieve a gas price in world markets that is "fair" and for recovering "the price of huge investments" that It requires the development of this energy.
At least they told Efe the Minister of Mines, Industry and Energy of Equatorial Guinea, Gabriel Obiang Lima, who said that during the pre-summit ministerial meetings the need for "adjustment" of gas prices was discussed until to "reasonable" levels.
The relationship between gas prices and oil also will be discussed, particularly in how to prevent the fall in oil prices influence gas markets.
This issue is especially important for countries like Russia or Bolivia, which expressly announced that they discussed at the summit.
Indeed, although not part of the official agenda, it will also be present at the meeting the possibility of the GECF arising in the future in an organization like the Oil Exporting Countries (OPEC), which can set prices and production gas worldwide.
"I have no doubt that the purpose of the forum is eventually become the gas OPEC. It is necessary, given the current high demand of gas as a renewable energy but not cleaner than other fossil. We agree that this instance is that you can define the international price and the international marker be gas, "he told Efe hydrocarbons minister of Bolivia, Luis Alberto Sanchez.
The Summit will also welcome special guests to the presidents of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, and Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, two countries rich in gas but which are not part of the organization, and it is possible that some of them formally announce that binds group.
Today, the countries participating in the summit control 42% of global gas supply, 70% of its proven reserves, 40% of the supply through pipelines and 65% of the world market of Liquefied Natural Gas . EFE
