Hollande: I knew that Paris was a symbol for Isis but not with attacks of that magnitude

French President Francois Hollande said he was aware that Paris represented "a symbol" for jihadist terrorism of the Islamic State (EI), but acknowledged that he imagined he could suffer attacks "so intense" as the last day 13. EFE.

"I knew that Paris represented a symbol (for EI). I never imagined that the attacks of November 13 would remember us with such intensity, "said the French president in an interview published today by the weekly" L'Express ".

In that interview, essentially dedicated to the imminent climate summit in Paris (cop21), Hollande said it was necessary to react "with the same urgency" to the terrorist challenge and global warming.

"It's the same struggle he argued. On the one hand, this is to protect humanity from death actions on behalf of EI attacking not only France but the whole world. And, secondly, to preserve the planet for our own inconsistencies, which may tomorrow be sources of conflict and war. "

He added that "France is at the forefront" of the fight and want to stand "at the head of the largest coalition for life" to address "both the fanaticism which kills" as "indifference to consume our planet."

The French president also referred to the security measures during the cop21 to be held in Paris within the next November 30 and December 11, as the ban on demonstrations in the capital.

"I know that people want to move to pressure the leaders gathered in Paris, but not planned demonstrations may take place given the context we live since 13 November," he added.

Hollande said that many of the events planned at the summit, to be attended by at least 140 heads of state and government in the largest international event in the history of France, will be held "in places closed and guarded."

"We owe our children something more than a world free of terrorism. We must preserve the planet for our bad habits and build a future of hope and progress, "he said.
