#ShoutYourAbortion: The campaign for abortion takes social networks

The media campaign launched by three American activists to denounce the taboos surrounding abortion went viral on social networks thanks to hundreds of women who were encouraged to share their experience.

The #ShoutYourAbortion label (Shout Your Abortion, in Spanish) became popular on Twitter starting Saturday September 19, after the House passed cut funding to Planned Parenthood, the largest provider of medical services for women United States.

The abortion has become the first page of the American debate with the electoral programs of the candidates to the White House.

Francis Pope, who just arrived Tuesday to the United States, also contributed to fuel it earlier this month to forgive all Catholic having aborted.

"I started #ShoutYourAbortion because I'm not sorry and I will not whisper," he said in his Twitter account Lindy West, one of the promoters with Amelia Bonow and Kimberly Morrison.

West told the British newspaper The Guardian his experience: "Nearly five years ago, I took a pill, then another, and lay down on my bed one night and one day followed. Then I stopped being pregnant. "

"It's no secret," he said. "Just something we do not talk."

Bonow told AFP that happened "the day crying" when he learned of the decision of Congress.

"Many women in my life and I will feel torn because this issue continues to be on the table in 2015," he said.

Hundreds of women have taken to social media to explain his experience using the label.

However, opponents of abortion did not lose the opportunity to give their opinion.

"I am convinced that babies #ShoutYourAbortion would like to participate in the campaign, but were killed and sold in pieces," wrote user Matt Walsh on his Twitter account.
